UPTOWN BRASS, Kenosha, Wisconsin
In 1998 Larry was contacted by Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian and asked to review the possible feasibility of a grocery anchored shopping center in the Uptown district of the Lincoln neighborhood. At the time the site was occupied by a 100 year old Brass foundry. Our assessment was that with a great deal of commitment and effort there was feasibility for a Grocery anchored center. In 2005 the site was ready for development and had become recognized by the US EPA as a “Best Practices” model for brownfield cleanup and remediation.
Today the site is home to The Uptown Brass Center, a mixed use development, and it provides much needed housing, products and services to this resurgent urban neighborhood.
